Renaming, Deleting & Reordering Files

Last updated September 15, 2026  ·  2 min read

Once a file is attached to a project or task, you can clean up its name, remove it, or change where it sits in the list all from the same Files section.

Renaming a File

To rename a file:

  1. Open the project or task the file belongs to.
  2. Find the file in the Files section.
  3. Choose Rename.
  4. Type the new name and save.

Deleting a File

Deleting a file removes it permanently, both from the project or task and from storage there’s no recovery step, so it’s worth being sure before confirming.

To delete a file:

  1. Open the project or task the file belongs to.
  2. Find the file in the Files section.
  3. Choose Delete.
  4. Confirm the action.

Reordering Files

You can drag files into whatever order makes sense for how your project or task is organized, rather than sticking with upload order.

To reorder files:

  1. Open the project or task’s Files section.
  2. Drag a file up or down in the list.
  3. Drop it in the new position; the order is saved automatically.

Good to know:

  • Renaming only changes the display name; it doesn’t affect the file’s contents.
  • Deleting is a genuine permanent deletion, removed from storage immediately, and it frees up the space the file was using.
  • Reordering only changes the display order; it doesn’t affect the files themselves or anyone else’s access to them.
