Adding Files & Links to Projects and Tasks

Last updated September 15, 2026  ·  2 min read

Whether it’s a file from your device or a URL you want to reference, attaching it to a project or task works the same simple way, and both live in the same Files section afterward.

Uploading a File to a Project

Files attached to a project are visible to everyone with access to it, so it’s the right place for anything the whole project team needs.

To upload a file to a project:

  1. Open the project and go to its Files section.
  2. Click Upload.
  3. Select the file from your device.
  4. Wait for the upload to finish.

Uploading a File to a Task

Files attached directly to a task keep task-specific material close to the work itself, rather than mixed in with everything else on the project.

To upload a file to a task:

  1. Open the task and go to its Files section.
  2. Click Upload.
  3. Select the file from your device.
  4. Wait for the upload to finish.

Adding an External Link

Not everything is a file; sometimes what you need to reference is a URL. PMS lets you attach links the same way you’d attach a file.

To add a link:

  1. Open the project or task and go to its Files section.
  2. Click Add Link.
  3. Paste the URL; if you leave off “https://”, it will be added automatically.
  4. Give it a label, or leave it blank to just show the URL itself.
  5. Save

Good to know:

  • View-only users (people given visibility but not full membership; see Setting Project Visibility) can’t upload files or add links.
  • File uploads count against your organization’s storage; links don’t, since they just point elsewhere. Task files and project files share the same overall storage quota.
  • Links live alongside uploaded files in the same list; there’s no separate “Links” area to check.
