Completing or Deleting a Project

Last updated September 18, 2026  ·  2 min read

Two different ways a project’s active life can end: one preserves everything, the other removes it permanently. Knowing which one you want matters.

Marking a Project Complete

When a project’s work is done, marking it complete records that formally, without hiding it or losing any of its history.

To mark a project complete:

  1. Open the project and click Edit Project
  2. Click Mark as Complete.
  3. Confirm the action.

Deleting a Project

Deleting a project is permanent; it removes the project along with every file attached to it and to its tasks and deliverables. This is very different from marking a project complete, and can’t be undone.

To delete a project:

  1. Open the project.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Confirm the action; you’ll typically be warned that this can’t be reversed.

Good to know:

  • Marking complete sets the project’s status to Completed, logs the change in its history, and automatically creates a final deliverable for it; tasks, files, and history all stay exactly as they were and remain fully viewable. There’s no separate archive state.
  • Only the project’s creator, or an organization Admin/Manager, can complete or delete a project.
  • Because deleting permanently removes files as well as records, treat it as a last resort; if the project is simply finished, use Mark as Complete instead.
