Task Collaboration
Task Comments: Adding, Replying & Attaching Files
Comments are the running conversation on a task: questions, updates, and context visible to everyone with access to it.
Adding a Comment
To add a comment:
- Open the task and go to its Comments section.
- Type your comment.
- Optionally attach a file to the comment.
- Post it.
Replying to a Comment
Replying keeps a specific thread of conversation together, instead of a discussion turning into a long list of loosely related top-level comments.
To reply to a comment:
- Open the task’s Comments section.
- Find the comment you want to respond to.
- Click Reply on that comment, rather than posting a new top-level comment.
- Type your response and post it it appears nested under the original comment.
Attaching a File to a Comment
If a comment needs supporting context, such as a screenshot or a document, you can attach a file directly to it instead of uploading separately to the task’s Files section.
To attach a file to a comment:
- Open the task’s Comments section and start writing your comment (or a reply).
- Use the attachment option to select a file from your device.
- Post the comment; the file appears attached to it.
Good to know:
- Comments can be edited after posting; edited comments are marked as such.
- Keeping related back-and-forth as replies makes the conversation much easier to follow later, especially on tasks with a lot of comments.
- Files attached to comments still count against your organization’s storage.
