Managing a User’s Credentials (Admin)

Last updated September 15, 2026  ·  2 min read

From a member’s profile, Admins can use the Credential Management panel to step in directly on someone’s login, change their password, and control whether they can use self-service password recovery.

Changing a User’s Password

To change a user’s password:

  1. Open the member’s profile and go to Credential Management.
  2. Click Change Password (or Reset Password).
  3. Enter and confirm a new password that meets the requirements (at least 8 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a special character).
  4. By default this also signs them out of all active sessions and locks their own self-service password recovery, though both of those can be left on if you prefer.

Password Recovery: Locking & Unlocking

Password Status on this panel shows whether the account’s self-service recovery (“Forgot Password”) is unlocked or Locked, along with the password version and when it was last changed.

To unlock a locked account’s password recovery:

  1. Open the member’s profile and go to Credential Management.
  2. Click Enable Password Recovery.
  3. Confirm

Good to know:

  • This is separate from changing your own password Admins can’t use this panel to change their own credentials; use the regular account settings for that instead.
  • Recovery gets locked automatically whenever an Admin sets a password this way (unless turned off at that moment), which prevents the user from using Forgot Password until an Admin unlocks it again.
  • Every password change or recovery unlock here is recorded in the audit log, and the affected user is notified.
