Abandoning a Sub-Task: Requesting & Deciding

Last updated September 14, 2026  ·  1 min read

If a sub-task shouldn’t be finished, requesting abandonment calls it off with an explanation rather than leaving it unfinished. Unlike tasks, only Admins or Managers can decide on the request not the sub-task’s own creator.

Requesting Abandonment

To request abandonment:

  1. Open the sub-task.
  2. Click Request Abandonment.
  3. Add a reason, if you have one.
  4. Submit status changes to Abandon Requested.

Approving or Declining the Request

To respond to a request:

  1. Open the sub-task showing Abandon Requested.
  2. Review the reason given.
  3. Choose Approve to abandon it, or Decline to return it to its previous status.
  4. Confirm

Good to know:

  • Only Admins and Managers can approve or decline this that’s stricter than the equivalent task flow, which also allows the task’s own creator.
