Pausing & Resuming a Sub-Task

Last updated September 14, 2026  ·  1 min read

Sub-tasks track active work time the same way tasks do. Pausing stops the timer and records why; resuming picks it back up.

Pausing

To pause a sub-task:

  1. Open a sub-task that’s In Progress or Submitted.
  2. Click Pause.
  3. Choose a reason: Waiting for Client, Waiting for Manager Approval, Waiting for Dependency, Technical Issue, Personal Break, Meeting, Internet or System Issue, or Other.
  4. Confirm status changes to Paused and the timer stops.

Resuming

To resume a sub-task:

  1. Open the paused sub-task.
  2. Click Resume.
  3. Confirm status returns to In Progress and the timer restarts.

Good to know:

  • There’s also an assigner-side pause the sub-task’s creator or an Admin/Manager can pause it themselves, locking the assignee out of resuming it until they lift the pause.
  • If it was paused by the assigner rather than you, only they (or an Admin/Manager) can resume it.
