Task Lifecycle

Reviewing a Task: Approve or Reject

Last updated September 14, 2026  ·  1 min read

Approving or rejecting is how the assigner (or an Admin/Manager) formally decides on a submitted task; assignees can’t approve or reject their own work.

Approving a Task

To approve a task:

  1. Open the submitted task.
  2. Review the submission notes and any attached files.
  3. Click Approve.
  4. Confirm the assignee is notified.

Rejecting a Task

If a submitted task isn’t ready, rejecting it sends it back to the assignee with your feedback instead of approving it.

To reject a task:

  1. Open the submitted task.
  2. Review the submission notes and any attached files.
  3. Click Reject.
  4. Add feedback explaining what needs to change.
  5. Confirm the assignee is notified with your feedback.

Good to know:

  • Only the task’s creator, an Admin/Manager, or the correct next approver in a delegation chain can approve or reject it. A task can only be acted on while it’s in the Submitted state.
  • A rejected task typically returns to an active state so the assignee can rework and resubmit it. Specific, actionable feedback here saves everyone a second round trip.
