Tasks
Pausing & Resuming a Task
If you need to stop active work on a task, pausing it records why instead of just letting it sit with no explanation; resuming picks it back up.
Pausing a Task
To pause a task:
- Open a task that’s In Progress or Submitted.
- Click Pause.
- Choose a reason: Waiting for Client, Waiting for Manager Approval, Waiting for Dependency, Technical Issue, Personal Break, Meeting, Internet or System Issue, or Other.
- Confirm the task’s status changes to Paused and its timer stops.
Resuming a Task
To resume a task:
- Open the paused task.
- Click Resume.
- Confirm the status returns to In Progress and the timer restarts.
Good to know:
- Unlike deliverables, tasks don’t get automatically paused for inactivity; that behavior is specifically disabled at the task level, so every pause here is a deliberate action.
- There’s also an assigner-side pause: the task’s creator or an Admin/Manager can pause it themselves, which blocks the assignee from acknowledging, submitting, or resuming it until that assigner lifts the pause.
- Every pause and resume is logged as a separate session, so a full history of why and when work stopped is available later.
